The Road I traveled
From Numbers to HR: My Unconventional Path
In second grade, my grandmother declared, "You should be an attorney - you love to argue!" And so, my childhood dream was set. But life had other ideas.
Fast-forward to adulthood: college, marriage, and homeownership - all in a whirlwind. Suddenly, I needed a job. Enter the role of Payroll & Personnel Supervisor at a local nonprofit. Hours, paychecks, and hiring became my daily rhythm.
Then came law school. But after one semester, I realized the courtroom wasn't my calling. Instead, I found myself drawn to the intricacies of HR - the heartbeat of organizations.
Guided by a seasoned HR pro, I tailored my studies. Labor & employment law; contracts and alternative dispute resolution - I soaked it all in. And there it was: my path - winding through tech startups, nonprofits, and manufacturers.
So here I am - a guardian of the human side of the business. Policies, people, and purpose. Let's navigate this HR journey together.
